The playoffs are underway in the Czech hockey competitions, before the extraliga begins, the preliminary round in the first league, which is played with only two wins and starts on the ice of the team with the worst record after the regular season.

For the second time in a row, Prerov missed out on a direct qualification to the quarter-finals in the final round, and just like last year, Zlín were happy at their expense. The Zubri will have to go through an unpredictable barrage, which they managed in two games (5:2, 4:0) against Frýdek-Místek a year ago. Pardubice’s results are thus wild at times, although the team showed some discipline in the final round and won the necessary 3:1 victory in Sokolov in a direct battle for the top ten. Now the Pardubice youngsters can relax and play without pressure.

Even though Přerov is statistically the second best defending team in the league and the least productive, goals have been falling in the games against Pardubice – Přerov has won three times (4:3, 5:2, 4:3) and the East Czechs once (4:1). At least five goals will be scored in the opening game of the preliminary round.
