The preliminary round of the Extraliga playoffs starts on Wednesday. Hradec Králové and Vítkovice will face each other in one of the four three-game series. This series has the potential to be the most even, with only three points separating the two teams at the end of the regular season.

If there was anything that brought both teams down during the regular season, it was the lack of power play chances. Mountfield was one of the worst teams in the whole Extraliga in this respect. This is also the basic problem why both Hradec and Vítkovice have to go to the preliminary round, while last season both teams managed to avoid this part of the playoffs.

In the regular season, these rivals were quite evenly matched. Three times the duels ended in a draw in regulation time, and although Hradec Králové managed to win three times, Vítkovice cannot be expected to make it any easier for them in Wednesday’s game.

What to bet on:

As already outlined, both teams’ power plays have not been among their biggest weapons. Therefore, we can’t expect anything to change as the playoffs begin. During the four games, three power plays were used in the Hradec and Vítkovice duels, with a maximum of one per game. And it will be the same on Wednesday, with no more than one power-play goal.
