Jannik Sinner was a bit worried at the beginning of the clay court part of the season. He will enter it as the best player of this season, having rampaged on concrete courts and won three titles out of four tournaments played. However, clay is not such a favourite surface for the Italian and he confirmed it in Miami, where he said in an interview with reporters after winning the final that he is not looking forward to his first tournaments on brick, because it always takes him quite a long time to get used to the surface and start playing on it as he would like.

But the fears may not be justified. In fact, one has to take into account that Sinner’s form is simply phenomenal and we won’t find a better player than him this season. He will also want to confirm this in Monte Carlo, where he did not get an easy draw in the opening round – he will play Sebastian Korda.

The son of Peter Korda made a splash in Monte Carlo in the first round, unexpectedly demolishing Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 6:1, 6:2. In the second round he can therefore challenge the second seed Sinner and try to surprise the player who had a free draw in the opening round.

What to bet on:

At the beginning of last season, Korda managed to beat the Italian in two sets on the concrete in Adelaide, but since then the American’s game has rather stagnated, while Sinner has improved in almost all areas of his game, whether it is movement on court, reading the game, accuracy of his shots or his serve. It won’t be an easy match for Sinner, but he will prevail. He will play at least 19 games at a time.
