Argentina is one of the aspirants to win gold medals at the Paris Games. With one of the team’s main stars in Julian Alvarez, who is a regular in the Premier League, the South American team intends to try and build on the national team’s Copa America-winning performance. Although the Games have a specific format of a football tournament and the rosters can only include three players over the age of 23, Argentina still have a strong enough squad that will be rounded out by Thiago Almada, who has already played at the World Cup.

In the first match the quality of the Argentines will be tested by the Moroccans. They won last year’s Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations, securing their place in Paris. Achraf Hakimi, a member of PSG France, and Soufiane Rahimi, who plays for Al Ain, are expected to be the stars of the team. Moreover, football is on the rise in Morocco, as the national team’s fourth-place finish at the World Cup two years ago proved. The question is, of course, how the young Moroccans, or rather the upcoming generation, will cope with the young Argentinians.

What to bet on:

Argentina has a clearly better squad on paper. Morocco may trouble the favoured opponent in this match, but after ninety minutes (and some set pieces) the South Americans will be happy with the victory.
