Twenty-year-old Jakub Nicod is one of the great Czech talents who have the potential to break into the world’s top 100. Nicod’s big misfortune this season was that just when he was getting into really great form, an injury came along and sidelined him for three months. Because of this his progress through the rankings stalled, however in recent weeks he has started to show his potential again and last week at the Challenger in Tulln he advanced to the biggest semi-final of his career.

However, he hasn’t had much time to rest and he starts this week at the Challenger in Dobrich, Bulgaria. In the opening round, the 301st ranked player in the world will take on Britain’s Oliver Crawford, who is five years older and ranked 232nd. However, the British tennis player’s form has been poor in recent weeks, losing five of his last six matches.

What to bet on:

Nicod has been getting into his optimal tennis mood for a while after his injury, but that has clearly come in recent weeks. He’ll confirm that in Dobrich, where he’ll take the first round match.
