The 1:2 loss to Bologna in the last round has left Cagliari just three points away from the relegation zone and with a lot of work to do. Genoa drew with Empoli (1-1) on Sunday and are nine points clear of the last three in 12th place, so they are much better off. However, its form in recent rounds is not ideal (1-2-2).

Cagliari didn’t score in their last home game against Juventus (0-1), but it was the first time they didn’t score in three appearances at this stadium. In those three duels, it even scored seven goals, accounting for almost half of its total of 15 home goals this season. What the home side is failing to do, however, is enter the match. In fact, in their 14 games here so far, they have only led at half-time once!

But that could change, as Genoa are not much better away from home in this respect (they have only led at half-time twice). Moreover, coach Vieira’s charges are not doing so well away in the last few rounds and have lost three of the previous four such games (1 draw). It is true that they have faced strong teams, but they have been waiting for an away win since the end of December, when they won at Empoli (0-2-3).

What to bet on:

Cagliari have alternated wins and losses in recent home games, but in their last seven appearances here they have lost four times to top five teams, while they have beaten Parma, Verona and Lecce here. That gives the home side, who need to continue to pick up points for salvation, an interesting chance against Genoa.
