The Třinec players entered the playoffs against Litvínov in a much better mood than their opponent, yet the Chemicals took the lead in the series after Friday’s 2-1 win after overtime. The hegemon of the last extra-league seasons will thus avert the threat of three imaginary swords on Saturday.

Třinec’s performance was below expectations for most of the regular season. The winner of the last five seasons finally clawed its way from the bottom of the table to at least tenth place. Litvínov’s performance had a completely opposite trajectory. VERVA was in the lead at one point, only to record the lowest points of all fourteen participants in the final twenty rounds and drop to seventh place.

The two rivals had an imaginary dress rehearsal for the playoffs in Tuesday’s 52nd round. Třinec won 3:1 at the frozen Ivan Hlinka Stadium and was the favourite to get the first point on Friday. But Litvinov managed to respond to Koch’s leading goal in the 11th minute at the start of the second period with Sukelj. The same player then scored an assist on Čajkovič’s winning goal in the 14th minute of overtime. All this was preceded by a disallowed goal by Kundratek, which the home team turned away four minutes earlier with a coach’s challenge.

What to bet on:

Predicting the winner of Saturday’s contest is extremely difficult. The better bet seems to be on the lower number of goals. Litvínov and Trinec games – they are definitely not goal throws these days! At least five goals were scored in regulation time last February. Since then, the “under 4,5” has been born five times. Our choice falls on this bet as well.
