While Bayern Munich would be the favourite in the men’s Champions League, it’s the French team in the women’s edition.

Lyon have won a record eight finals of the competition and, having last triumphed in 2022 and lost to Barcelona in the final last year, are all the more eager to win a ninth trophy. Olympique breezed through the regular group without faltering, winning all six matches by an impressive score of 19-1, not scoring once away (Wolfsburg 2-0, Real Madrid 3-0, Galatasaray 6-0).

The squad has no weaknesses, with a national team player at every position, no competition in France, only two points lost in the domestic league (score 77:5) and crushed Reims 8-1 in Friday’s dress rehearsal.

Bayern also lead the Bundesliga, having beaten Wolfsburg 3-1 at home in a direct battle for top spot. However, the Munich women have not yet reached the top of the Champions League. Their maximum is two semi-finals, the last time in 2021.

After last year’s elimination in the group stage, they managed the first stage of the competition better, although first place eluded them in the final match at Arsenal’s ground, where they lost 2:3. At home they were otherwise 100 percent, standing out with a 5-2 win over Arsenal and a 4-0 win over Juventus.

What to bet on:

Bayern are strong especially at home, but Lyon are opponents of a calibre they have not faced yet this season. A draw will be a success for Munich, give it a double in the conservative option.
