Linda Noskova had a bye in the opening round of the WTA 1000 tournament in Madrid, Spain and will play in the second round. There she will face Argentina’s María Lourdes Carlé, who successfully passed the qualification and defeated Slovakia’s Rebecca Šramková in the opening round.

Noskova is the paper favourite, but in her first clay tournament she unexpectedly finished in the eighth round against Suzan Lamens.
