After a short winter break, the Bundesliga resumes with the expected showdown between Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen. The reigning German champions are four points behind second-placed leaders Bayern Munich, while Westphalia round off the cup standings with a seven-point loss.

Dortmund won 3-1 at Wolfsburg before Christmas to notch their first away league triumph of the season, while stretching their unbeaten streak among Germany’s elite to five games (2-3-0), putting them just two points outside the top four. Although BVB failed to hold a narrow lead at home twice in a row in the league, scoring only a point for a 1-1 draw, they scored in front of their own fans each time (6-2-0)!

Leverkusen blasted Freiburg (5-1) in the last round and extended their winning streak to eight games in all competitions, which moved them into second place behind the aforementioned Bayern and also into the top eight of the Champions League main stage. Coach Xabi Alonso’s charges, for a change, have not lost away this season (4-3-0) and travel to Dortmund knowing that they have earned only two points fewer on their opponents’ pitches (15) than at home (17).

What to bet on:

In addition to a great home record, Borussia’s confidence will also be boosted by the fact that they have lost only one of their last nine home games (7-1-1), although both of those losses came in their previous three appearances. BVB will build on the above and will not come out empty-handed at Signal Iduna Park against Leverkusen.
