Empoli suffered their first league defeat of the season, falling to Lazio 1-2. Napoli, on the other hand, confirmed their role as favourites by beating Como 3-1 at home to consolidate their lead.

Empoli have been the surprise of the season, having not lost once until the last round. However, a look at its record (6-4) and its only win in its previous five appearances (1-3-1) suggests that tough times will now begin for the Tuscan side. We could easily see another Lecce, who also started very well last year but started to lose with iron regularity from mid-October.

Naples is experiencing a renaissance. After last year’s tragic title defence, Antonio Conte has managed to put the team together and the results have not been long in coming. Romelu Lukaku, who simply shines under this coach, scored his fourth goal against Como and added two assists. Napoli is also very dangerous in the end of the game, scoring five goals in the last 15 minutes.

What to bet on:

The leading team in the table will not hesitate in Empoli. Antonio Conte and his team have won five out of seven games (5-1-1) and Naples is already making an undisguised run at the title. It may not have fared so well against Empoli in recent years, but this year’s away team looks very different. Moreover, the home side has already lost their unbeaten run and now they will go downhill.
