Espanyol have taken a step towards salvation in the last two rounds, taking 6 points from away games. The team has thus moved up to 15th place in the table, the gap to 18th-placed Las Palmas being the aforementioned six points.

The team has calmed down and gained confidence. The defence has kept a clean sheet twice in a row, and the team confirms that it has definitely toughened up defensively this spring. Espanyol has also found an unexpected goalscorer, with Roberto Fernandez Jaen scoring three times in the last two games and the 22-year-old striker claiming a permanent place in the starting line-up. The winter signing from Braga (on loan) has shone in the past scoring goals at Malaga, and also spent a while in the reserves of Barcelona, who only have their radar trained on talented players.

Espanyol have robbed points in previous duels from opponents (Vigo, Vallecano) who were above them in the table, they can also play a good game with Getafe.
