Saturday’s programme of the 19th round of LaLiga will also feature a clash between two teams that – at least according to their results so far – could be direct competitors for the elite competition. Given that both returned to it from the second league last summer, this is not a big surprise.

Leganés, the winner of the previous edition of LaLiga2, have the better results so far out of this duo of newcomers. The latter has picked up 18 points in 18 rounds, three more than Espanyol, who only returned to the top flight through a successful play-off (they were fourth after the regular season).

Recent results also speak in favour of the visitors. While Leganés shocked Barcelona with a 1-0 win in mid-December and squeaked into the Copa del Rey eighth-finals via Estepona (3-2 on penalties) and Cartagena (2-1), Espanyol have not won a single game in the same period and have failed to score in four of their five duels. The same happened against UD Barbastro from the fourth league, where Barcelona unexpectedly ended their journey to the national cup in the second round (0:2).

What to bet on:

Leganés have won four of the previous six encounters (4-1-1), are in better form, and have also had recent success in Barcelona against a much stronger FC. The odds on the visitors are quite interesting from this perspective, and it’s worth playing for even through a tip on their non-loss.
