Fenerbahce Istanbul and Royale Union Saint-Gilloise will face each other again in a replay of last year’s Eight Finals in the new edition of the Europa League. The Turkish side should do better this time as well.

Fenerbahce is in second place in the Turkish Super League after six rounds. Only city rival Galatasaray is better off, having managed a 3-1 win in their weekend derby, handing Fenerbahce their first league defeat since last November.

Legendary coach Jose Mourinho has a number of interesting names on the roster. In attack, he relies on the five-goal scorer and well-known to Czech fans, Bosnian Edin Džeko, who is complemented with three goals by Serbian Dusan Tadic. Brazilian midfielder Fred has the same number of goals. In the middle line we can also find Polish Sebastian Szymanski, the second best passer in the Conference last year.

Union is in a completely different frame of mind. They are currently in twelfth position in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League and have been waiting for a win for four rounds. What is even worse, Union hasn’t scored a single goal in the process. Last time they played a goalless draw at Lutych.

What to bet on:

Fenerbahce will start their Europa League journey in front of traditionally boisterous fans with a win. Union have been struggling incredibly offensively in recent weeks. Last season, the Belgians did not score a single goal away from home in the group stage of the EL. Under these circumstances and with the strength of the Istanbul club, the position of the favourite is more than clear.
