The last Czech Cup representative played a goalless draw with Fiorentina in the Conference League in Štruncové sady a week ago and will go into the rematch with a chance to advance to the ECL semifinals.

Viktoria boosted their confidence ahead of Thursday’s game in Florence, as they managed to beat Prague Slavia (1-0) after a very good performance at the weekend. Especially the team’s defence is running like clockwork, and coach Koubek has no reason to change something that works.

He helps the Wests considerably in both defensive standards and offensive ones, and is one of the biggest threats and players who can score. Unfortunately, Pilsen have been lacking in those lately, with only the lanky striker and midfielder Šulc maintaining a steady shooting phase.

Fiorentina didn’t offer much in the first leg, the Italian club dominated the ball but didn’t create too many chances. This is a picture well known from Serie A, where the team has been struggling for some time now. Barak and co. are working hard for every goal. Only rarely do the team manage to score twice in the end, mostly it ends with one goal scored.

Belotti, the former national team player, can’t get into form since his winter arrival from AS Roma (one goal in the league). So no goal machine from the home side can be expected. Fiorentina are well aware that they will be up against a tactically advanced opponent and will be happy with any result that secures promotion.

Similarly to the first match (0:0), we cannot expect a higher number of goals in the match, the visitors will play from a secure defence and get on the nerves of the home team. Given the home side’s scoring form in recent weeks, fewer goals in the match are on offer. Another possibility is a draw at half time.
