A 0-1 defeat to Bournemouth means Fulham enter this round with a six-point deficit to the top seven – the current cup positions. Visiting Chelsea are currently sixth and had a point behind the top five, which means the Champions League, but have been rather losing lately.

Fulham are certainly not worried about Chelsea’s arrival: they are doing well at home against teams from the top half of the table (4-2-1). It’s not without interest that both teams have managed to score on all occasions. The Cottagers will now try to take advantage of this decent record and for the first time in their history win a league double over Chelsea – it hasn’t been done in the previous 39 seasons that the two teams have played together in the top flight. Now is the chance after a 2-1 win in their first meeting.

Chelsea were in second place at Christmas but have slowed down in the New Year, dropping down to their current sixth place. Promotion to the Champions League is still only one point away, so the Blues have a lot to play for, but a single win in the last four league rounds (1-2-1) doesn’t inspire much dread. Neither does the record against their neighbours from the top half of the table (4-3-7).

What to bet on:

Fulham have a unique chance to complete a league double against the Blues for the first time in their history, also because they have beaten Liverpool, Nottingham and Newcastle at their stadium this season. Moreover, unlike their opponents, they will only focus on the league.
