Struggling for salvation, Genoa are starting to pick themselves up after taking four points in the last two rounds – most recently drawing 1-1 with Como. Cagliari also picked up a point after a heroic performance at home to draw 3-3 with AC Milan. Both teams thus sit a point above the relegation zone.

Not Mario Balotelli, but Andrea Pinamonti is Genoa’s saviour. In the last two rounds, he first scored the winning goal at Parma, and then assisted the equaliser in injury time against Como. In the last five league games, Genoa have scored four goals after the 70th minute of play, three of which were scored by Pinamonti. And Super Mario? He’s seen a yellow card in both of his games so far. And he hasn’t played many minutes.

Cagliari head to Genoa with two away losses (Lazio, Udinese) and an overall unconvincing record on their opponents’ soil (1-1-3). However, four goals in the games against Lazio and AC Milan suggest that coach Nicola’s charges are at least waking up shooting, which helped them a lot last time in early October. And beware, in their last two duels, the goal came in the second minute.
