The clash between Barbora Krejcikova and Jelena Rybakina in the Wimbledon semi-finals could be one of the highlights of the women’s part of the tournament. On one side is the excellent grass-court player Rybakina, who won Wimbledon in 2022, on the other the in-form Krejcikova, who also already knows the feeling of winning a Grand Slam, having won the French Open in 2021.

Rybakina is the favourite for the match. Her grass-court skills are phenomenal and after knocking out other co-favourites like Aryna Sabalenka, Coco Gauff and Iga Swiatek, she has some really interesting prospects for a second Wimbledon triumph. In addition, her health, which has plagued her in recent months and brought a number of disappointments at major tournaments, is holding her back. In her last three matches at Wimbledon she has not lost a set and has lost only nine games in total.

Krejcikova, who has played two matches with Rybakina so far and managed to beat her in three sets both times (but not once on grass), has also not lost a set in her last three Wimbledon matches. In addition, she found a recipe not only against the favoured Danielle Collins, but also against the excellent grass-courter and sharpshooter Jelena Ostapenko in the quarter-finals. But Rybakina is a much tougher nut to crack.

Although Rybakina is a big favorite, Krejcikova won’t sell her skin cheap. On the contrary, she can give the Kazakhstani a lot of trouble. That’s also why it should be worth trying to add to the ticket that there will be a long tug-of-war and a lot of games to be played.
