The highlight of the twenty-fourth round will be a duel of teams with different form, who are slowly starting to get closer to each other in the table, which was unthinkable not long ago. But now, home side Lyon are on a winning streak, while Lens have sandwiched their last two league losses with Europa League elimination. Can we see a fifth Lyon win in a row?

Lyon showed strength again last round, as they managed to turn around another unfavourable away game, this time at Metis (2-1) thanks to goals from Alex Lacazette and Said Benrahma. “Les Gones” also managed to build on their recent excellent league results in the French Cup, where they are already in the semi-finals after Tuesday’s penalty shootout win over Strasbourg and are grinding their teeth for the overall championship, which is certainly not that far away from the top six, where Lyon is eight points behind before this round.

Racing Lens, who last time out lost 2-3 at home to Monaco, will be in the hunt for another three points, having scored the decisive goal in extra time for the second game in a row. The first one was scored on German soil in the Europa League in Freiburg, where they were subsequently eliminated after extra time, and the second one in the next league match. This has certainly put a wrinkle on coach Franck Haise’s forehead, as his team is facing a match at Lyon, where they have not won any of their fourteen league matches this century, losing twelve times!

What to bet on?

Lyon’s form and Lens’ record on Lyon soil speak clearly for a bet on a home win. However, I’ll be more cautious and I wouldn’t completely write off the visitors despite their recent setbacks as they are capable of troubling anyone. The result could therefore be a draw at half-time or at the end of the game, with the final minutes of the second half again being the decider.
