Daniil Medvedev is very fond of the grass part of the season. Traditionally, he thrives on this surface, as evidenced by his match record, which is 50-22. Although he has only one title from grass so far, he has had very interesting results in the crowded competition in recent years. Last year he was in the semi-finals of Wimbledon (losing to Alcaraz), the year before he was in the finals of Hertogenbosch and Halle (he was not allowed to play at Wimbledon) and in 2021 he won the aforementioned title in Mallorca.

That is why he is the clear favourite in the opening round of the Halle tournament against Portugal’s Nuno Borges. Borges has so far won virtually nothing on grass except a semi-final at the poorly-attended Nottingham Challenger. He has never made it past the first round in a major tournament in his career. And nothing will change that this year in Halle.

What to bet on:

Medvedev is the clear favourite to play Borges and the co-favourite for the whole tournament in Halle. He will win the opening round in two sets, no more than 22 games will be played.
