Even the new coach after the dismissed Alessandro Nesta did not bring success to Monza, as the last team in the table lost 1:2 in Parma after Christmas. However, the performance looked very different and promising with regards to the future. The other threatened team did not fare as well: Cagliari lost 0:3 at home to Inter and remain in the relegation zone after four losses in a row.

Monza is the worst team in the league in terms of home performances – they have won only three points here (0-3-6). They have lost four times in a row at their stadium, but all by one goal. However, Monza’s last point here came at the end of October against Venezia (2-2), one of their previous seven home league games in a row in which they also scored first.

Cagliari are not usually dangerous on their travels, and five losses in their last six competitive games only confirms that. On the last three occasions, the visitors have also been down after the first half, which makes their quest for points very difficult. Cagliari have only five points away from home this season (1-2-5) and their recent form does not promise an early recovery.

What to bet on:

The arrival of Cagliari offers the struggling team a home game at last. If Monza fails even against the Sardinians, its salvation will be really pale despite the change of coach. But Cagliari’s last away game in Venice suggests that the home side could be in for a treat. After all, last year they relied on their home performances.
