Monza suffered their 13th loss of the season, losing 0-2 to Genoa on Monday night and remain in last place. They are seven points behind the relegation zone and, coincidentally, their opponents Verona, who salvaged a 1-1 draw at Venezia last time out, have exactly that many more.

Monza’s survival among the elite is increasingly uncertain. After a promising home win against Fiorentina, it has lost twice in a row again and its gap to salvation is growing. The home side, for example, have been waiting for a clean sheet for 14 league games (only Venezia are worse), but coincidentally they kept it last time in their first meeting with Verona (3-0). Combined with only 20 goals scored, then the problem is worldwide.

Verona came back last time after two losses in a row and brought back a valuable point from Venice. However, it was only their second draw of the season (6-2-14) and their first away (3-1-7). Despite their situation, the visitors are relatively improving on their opponents’ soil, where they have lost only one of their last four games (2-1-1) and even won 3-2 in Parma and Bologna. However, their 23 away goals scored remains clearly the worst performance in the league.

What to bet on:

The clash between the two relegation-threatened teams will be very even, but Monza could build on their previous home success against Fiorentina. In fact, they look healthier than their opponents with regard to the future of the club. The visitors are also missing key striker Tengstedt, who was injured last time out.
