Britain’s Andy Murray has been struggling this season. The former world number one waited for his first victory in 2024 until Tuesday, when he beat Alexandre Muller 6-1, 7-6 in Doha, Qatar. Murray had lost all four of his matches in tournaments up until that encounter.

In a not-so-good mood, he will face a clash of generations with Jakub Mensik. While Murray is now 36, Menshikov is still only 18. But he’s already showing that he’s a major talent in men’s tennis, and is working his way towards the world’s elite 100.

This season, Mensik reached the final of the Challenger in Canberra and the semi-finals of the Challenger in Manama. At the Australian Open, he successfully qualified and advanced past Denis Shapovalov into the second round, falling in five sets to the favored Hubert Hurkacz. In Doha, he defeated Spain’s Davidovich Fokina, who was the favourite to win the match, in two sets.

What to bet on:

In terms of form, Mensik is several times better. Murray still has his qualities, but age can’t be stopped and so far it’s been a miserable season for him. The Czech tennis player will advance to the quarterfinals in Doha.
