Karolina Pliskova never ceases to amaze. After basically struggling through the whole of last season and the beginning of this year, she has caught her second wind. After dropping to 78th in the world rankings, she kicked on last week in Cluj to win her first trophy in four years, flew to Doha on Sunday night and has already managed three tough three-set battles at the Qatar tournament.

All in all, Pliskova has won eight in a row and seven of them in seven days, even with a difficult overnight flight from Romania to Qatar that she didn’t even have 24 hours to make. On Thursday, she will play her eighth match in eight days and will challenge former world number one Naomi Osaka, whom she managed to beat earlier in the season.

Osaka hasn’t been playing top-notch tennis since her return from maternity leave. She had lost three in a row before the Doha tournament and reaching the quarterfinals is a big surprise. However, it is true that her situation was made easier by Lesya Tsurenko, who did not enter the match against the Japanese in the eighth round.

What to bet on:

The first match of the season went to three sets. Pliskova cannot be denied her excellent form before the next duel and above all her great fight, thanks to which she turned around the duels with Anna Kalinska and Linda Noskova. It will be a long match against Osaka and she will once again be pushing herself to another fighting performance. Whether she advances or loses, the match will feature at least 21 games.
