With two rounds to go in the Europa League, Plzeň is in 17th place, but the end is extremely difficult. Next week they finish second at Bilbao, and on Thursday they play at home against third-placed Anderlecht, who have not lost in the group and last time took all the points from the stadium of Slavia.

Plzeň could theoretically need a point from two matches to advance, but they cannot count on that, the standings are tight and any hesitation could be punished severely. Viktoria must rue their latest defeat, losing 1:2 to a lacklustre Manchester United with an 88th minute goal and losing for the first time in 25 games in the European Cups after 90 minutes.

Anderlecht are fighting for direct qualification to the eighth round and three points from the Struncove Gardens would more or less give them a certainty. The Brussels Violets are thriving in the competition, with a record of two wins and one draw at home and away. They have been excellent in close games, including three 2-1 wins against Slavia.

The advantage of the visitors is the schedule, the Belgian league is in full swing and Anderlecht won three out of four matches in the new year. Pilsen go into the match after a break of more than a month, they did well in the short preparation in January and beat AIK Stockholm 2-0 in the dress rehearsal.

What to bet on:

Anderlecht showed how effective they are in Eden, with two shots on target being enough to win the game. But Plzen won’t be as crazy as Slavia, they play pragmatically in the cups and will at least snatch a draw. Ideally, it’s a double chance, which has been the winning combination in all six of Plzen’s previous group stage duels.
