Jiří Procházka returns to the cage after his last defeat by Alex Perreira, which he would like to forget as soon as possible. He had a short mandatory break from the UFC following his December KO, but that only applies to MMA fights, so he was able to return to training immediately. So he started preparing for Rakic before he actually knew the name of his future opponent.

Compared to the previous fight, the preparation is going better, or rather BJP is in better health and has done more training. Moreover, he has gone back “to his roots”, taking out unnecessary details from the preparation and focusing a lot on the rough side of things. He skipped the foreign camps this time, unless you count the training in Slovakia with Ilya Škondrič. But besides the great demandingness, he also managed to rest, interspersing the hard preparation with regeneration, for example in Madeira, where he worked on his mental adjustment for a change. The head is an essential part of Jirka’s performance, and BJP himself mentioned that he would like to enter the match in such a state of mind, as if it were already the second round.

Rakic is returning to action after almost two years (knee injury), which may have a negative impact on his performance. After all, training and a sharp fight are two different things, both physically and mentally, when you get into trouble in a fight. Either way, Rakic is a big man and a striker who will be more comfortable in the stance early in the match and will try to hit Prochazka from the retreat or target Prochazka’s front foot.

In the run-up to the match, he tried to get into Procházka’s head with a shake, but such “theatrics” don’t work on the Hostěradice native. In any case, Rakic has the winning punch and is capable of doing a lot of damage, so Procházka will have to concentrate on defense a bit more than in previous fights.

What to bet on:

An evenly matched fight is open to both sides, but Prochazka is focused on MMA virtually every day of his life. Mentally he’s in great shape, good preparation. Rakic will pay for a long layoff without a fight. One and a win.
