Group E may well get the nickname of the least attractive, which the unbiased fan will probably know in the first match.
The label of the most boring team of the Euros will be hard to remove from Romania, although they surprisingly won their qualifying group without a single defeat. On closer inspection, however, it is not so glorious. Switzerland are on the decline, Belarus and Israel had to play their home games in an asylum, Kosovo and Andorra belong in the European basement.
The Romanians will face better quality opponents at the Euros and history suggests that no miracle can be expected from them. Their five previous appearances at the old continental championships have been turned into a single win in 2000, and they have a difficult record of five draws and ten defeats from their other fifteen matches.
The question is who will score the goals. They haven’t scored many in qualifying (16/6 to Andorra) and in their last two preliminary matches against Bulgaria and Liechtenstein they didn’t score at all, both ending in 0-0 draws. The team’s offense is dependent on former Slavia midfielder Stancio, who is earning an unearned pension in Saudi Arabia. Other key players such as goalkeeper Moldovan and stopper Dragisun hardly play in their clubs.
The Ukrainians offer more individual and team quality. The mainstays have club affiliations in top competitions, for which they also play regularly – Zabarnyi, Mykolenko, Mudryk, Zinchenko Premier League, Lunin catches for Real Madrid, Dovbyk and Cygankov took Girona to the Champions League, with which Donetsk’s players also have plenty of experience. Yarmolenko and Yaremchuk are the stalwarts of the offensive.
The Bluebirds toughened up in a tough qualifying group with England and Italy, for which they finished third only due to inferior mutual matches, then in the additional play-off they managed to turn around duels with Bosnia and Iceland (both 2-1). In the preliminary round they lost 1:3 in Poland, but also drew 0:0 in Germany and crushed Moldova 4:0 in the dress rehearsal.
What to bet on:
The Ukrainians are better than Romania in all aspects, which will be reflected in the result. You can increase the odds in combination with a net account.
