Brest debut in the main stage of the Champions League and present a great performance. The French side, which also beat Sparta Prague in the autumn, is in ninth place in the table and is de facto assured of qualification. The question is whether it will go straight to the second round of the knockout fights, or whether it will have to go to the first round.

The key to breaking through to the elite eight will lie in the Veltins Arena, where Ukraine’s Shakhtar Donetsk will play their home game. In the last round Brest will play against Real, which may be too big a bite.
