After advancing to the third round of the Champions League on Tuesday against FCSB from Romania, Sparta must switch to the Czech league again.

The Czech champion has managed to balance between the competitions so far, winning all four games, although it has been skeletal at times, such as in Tuesday’s home rematch with Shamrock, to whom Sparta scored four goals but conceded two.

Danish coach Lars Friis is gradually getting all players into the workload, with all three summer signings – Ross, Krasniqi and García – starting from the start on Tuesday. In any case, they still need to get used to the Czech environment. Friis tried Pavelka, who doesn’t have much space in the centre of midfield, against Shamrock on the right. The defence got a constructive player, but Pavelka was also involved in two goals.

Sparta is still not doing well defensively, having kept a clean sheet in four games only in Ireland. It can be satisfied with its productivity, six goals in the Champions League (2:0, 4:2) and six in the Czech league (2:1, 4:1) are proof of that.

Dukla have not yet left the capital and will play their second Prague derby in a row at Letná. In the previous one, they got three points for a lucky 1-0 home win over Bohemians. Two shots on goal were enough for the newcomers to get the full number of points, the goal was more or less given to them by the kangaroos’ goalkeeper Reichl.

Overall, the first two rounds showed the limits of Petr Rada’s team, which only strengthened minimally over the summer. The team is combinatively bad, cannot hold the ball for long periods of time, hardly gets into chances and in the first round at home against Plzeň they did not qualify (1:3).

What to bet on:

Sparta will want to decide their must-win game as soon as possible, preferably by half-time, to save their strength for the Champions League. Ideally, they should be at least two goals up at the break.
