Don’t be fooled by St. Louis’ latest win in Boston. It was more of a rare, isolated affair where the Bruins took a personal day off. Their star goalie Linus Ullmark allowed five goals on just 22 shots. The Bears won 37-22 overall on shots, yet succumbed 1-5 on the scoreboard. But we shouldn’t overlook how poorly St. Louis has been playing lately. Even counting Monday’s game, they have one of the worst expected goals values in the last four games – only 37.6 percent (a value is quality when it’s above 50 percent, anything above 60 percent speaks of dominance, conversely, teams below 40 percent are clearly outplayed). Even the dangerous shots stat is clearly against the Blues – they’ve had only 35 percent (out of 100) of all dangerous opportunities in the last four games they’ve played. Their power play was just under nine percent and their shorthanded play was absolutely tragic (69 percent). Prior to the Boston game, results came in that matched the above. The Blues have lost three times with a total score of 3-12. The Kings have values somewhere in the middle, on average, for the period under review, but they are doing great shorthanded (89 percent) and have an above average shooting percentage (10.6pct). What to bet on: The Kings have been long odds up after the coaching change, they are fighting for a playoff spot and should win tonight. Confidence: 8/10
