Fourteen points from the last six league rounds (4-2-0) brings Villarreal closer to the elite four, and thus to the dream Champions League. The Yellows succeeded in the last round at Vallecas (1-0), and if they can confirm the points from away against Espanyol in Monday’s return leg, they will close the gap to the crucial fourth place to a single point, as Bilbao lost at Atlético at the weekend.

Villarreal will be the favourites for this match. Espanyol arrive on its soil as the fifteenth team in the table, which, moreover, scores only sporadically on the opponents’ fields (1-2-9, score 7:22).
